Questions and AnswersCategory: Moitessier HATGNSS and AIS are not working
Christophe Brouillet asked 3 years ago

Hello,
first of all I am very happy that such a hat exists and I am looking forward to make it work and of course to use it at sea. Unfortunately the GNSS and the AIS are not  working.

  • I am using a Raspberry Pi4 booting from a SSD (connected to a USB 2 port)
  • Openplotter and
  • I do have an unobstructed view of the sky.
  • I am using the internal GNSS antenna.
  • Both green leds (AIS data and GNSS fox) are steady.
  • The red light is off.

I must admit that the quality of my AIS antenna is questionable but I am hoping that solving the GNSS first could hit two birds with one stone.
I was also worried about the Radio Frequency Interferences from the USB 3 port, this is why I connected the SSD to a USB 2 port.
Finally, here is how my system looks like:

Would you be able to help?

Hello,

I when through the Openplotter documentation, followed the the configuration instruction and I still have the same issue (no GNSS fix).

Is there something else I can do to make it work please?

Thank you,

Christophe

Hi,

I tried this morning with an external GNSS antenna and it worked like a charm.
I’ll try at sea how it works with only the internal antenna. In the meantime, you can close the thread.

Thanks,

Christophe

’m wondering if it is possible to stack a Moitessier HAT under or over a PICO UPS on a Raspberry Pi 3? I’m looking for a UPS/safe shutdown solution for SD card protection. If stacking is not an option, what are people doing for UPS/safe shutdown solutions? Thanks for your insight! free adult chat rooms
