Are there any plans to make a transmit version of the HAT2?  If no, why not?  I am interested in a low-cost option to outfit tender, etc so that they can be located by the mothership via the chartplotter.

There are traditional vendors offering VHF radios with DSC and AIS for $1000.

VHF and DSC (no AIS) for $200. Seems like an opportunity.

No there are no plans to develop an AIS transmitter.

Any particular reason?

Developing a transmitter is much more complex because you have different regulations and standards. A radio license is also required to operate a transmitter. In addition, there is no market for it because there are already too many providers.
